I am the delivery mechanism of art that is a being unto itself. I funnel energy and passion into representations suitable for the origin of thought and soul. It is an ongoing conversation. The work I create becomes a child of thought. Its mission is to give life and meaning to those who witness and are immersed in it.
My visual style is based on the gesture of the brush and continues to evolve over time. The aggression, passion, love, pain is represented through strong layering of paint contrasting with subtle forms and color.
Influences include Jean Dubuffet , Gustav Klimt, Max Ernst, Yves Tanguy, Max Beckman and William Kentridge.
My subject matter is based in visions and dreams. The irony of individuality and my sacred belief in the human being as a source of light is at the core. Figures and hidden forms represent the stew of the minds memory of past friends, lovers, experiences and events that unfold with or without our control.
The final piece is, in a sense, an open book of forms both real and unreal. The viewer is obliged to place meaning and subject matter into the painted matter.
I have a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. My work has been seen all over the United States and currently hangs in Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles and San Diego. |
